No stranger to hitting the headlines, Arnold Clark Drum has once again been in the limelight as she participated in a television programme for a BBC series in conjunction with MnE Media.
Filming for Air Bharr nan Tonn (On the Crest of the Waves), a Gaelic language series produced by MnE Media for BBC2 Scotland, took place on Drum during June with the stunning racing yacht proving she was the perfect host for the programme which focuses on the sea, boats and associated lifestyle.
Now in its second series, the programme will be visiting six maritime locations between Shetland and Southampton and will feature stories which will appeal to sailors and casual viewers alike. Over six programmes, the presenters will illustrate just why the sea in general and boating in particular retains such a broad appeal in Scotland and beyond.
Skipper Hugh MacGregor and his crew took the production team from Rhu to Largs, taking in Inverkip and the spectacular scenery on the west coast as they went.
Hugh commented, "We were delighted to be able to accommodate the crew on board. We're only too happy to showcase Drum and what she is capable of and with such fantastic weather, I don't think the crew could have asked for more."
Iain MacLeod, series director at MnE media further comments, "Drum is certainly one of the best known boats on the Clyde and we felt it was only appropriate that we use her to cover the Firth of Clyde leg of our journey. She's a magnificent boat and we had a fantastic day's sailing and got some excellent footage for the programme too."
The transmission date for Air Bharr nan Tonn is likely to be sometime in the autumn, but is yet to be confirmed.
Primarily used for corporate entertaining and private hire, Drum is popular with experienced and novice sailors alike and having undergone a £250,000 refurbishment, summer 2007 is shaping up to be a busy season.
